Introduction

As a UX / service designer on this project, I collaborated with IBM and BP teams to develop a tool within Compass for managing British Petroleum's supplier lifecycle.

Our goal was to enhance BP’s procurement and supply chain management using Salesforce technology. This involved working closely with global teams to streamline processes and support efficient decision-making within BP's procurement operations.


Design process

  1. RESEARCH :

    • Conducted primary research with users and stakeholders.

    • Remote interviews were held to gather data and insights.

    • Data was synthesised to map existing supplier management processes and identify pain points.


  2. WORKSHOP PREPERATION :

    • Insights and data from research were compiled and presented to stakeholders.

    • Developed a workshop agenda and pre-read materials for participants.

    • Prepared for a four-day Enterprise Design Thinking workshop to align global users.

  3. DESIGN WORKSHOP :

    • Lead sessions to define personas, validate current processes, and co-create future state scenarios.

    • Collaborative sessions focused on understanding data flows and developing a new tool.

  4. POST-WORKSHOP ACTIVITIES :

    • Documented workshop outputs and refined process maps.

    • Created wireframes and initial screen designs for the new tool.

    • Reviewed and iterated on designs based on stakeholder feedback.

Results

Successfully aligned global stakeholders on the design and processes of the new tool.

  • Created a validated roadmap for the Supplier Lifecycle Management process.

  • Developed initial screen designs and wireframes, laying a strong foundation for future development.

  • Enhanced user understanding and process flows, leading to more efficient and effective procurement management.

  • Fostered collaboration and received positive feedback from stakeholders, ensuring continued support and engagement.
